Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has denied reports claiming that one of its aircraft narrowly escaped a missile attack in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. In a statement, the airline described the allegations as “completely baseless and false.”
PIA officials emphasized that no official statement had been issued regarding such an incident and urged the public not to share unverified information.
Certain media outlets had reported that on the night of Tuesday, March 17, 2026, a PIA aircraft carrying approximately 200 passengers was allegedly targeted by a missile while approaching Fujairah International Airport, claiming that a major disaster was narrowly avoided.
Meanwhile, PIA stated that due to the deteriorating safety environment in the region amid tensions linked to Iran, it has suspended its Fujairah services for 48 hours. An airline spokesperson said the decision was taken in the interest of passenger and crew safety.
